MILWAUKEE, WI -- 8/13/15 --Milwaukee mayor, Tom Barrett comments on a range of issues, from unemployment, to crime and police. At 19.9%, the unemployment rate for African-Americans in Milwaukee is twice the national rate. The city is home to 72% of the black population in the state, so the rate makes a significant impact to African-Americans in Wisconsin. The city has responded with the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Fund (MAWIF) which has job-training, re-entry and youth job programs among it's services. Earn and Learn serves over 5000 young people, ages 14-21 with job service programs.…by André Chung #_AC26842
