BALTIMORE, MD -- APRIL 12: Sandtown Site Supervisor Greg Marshburn gives instructions as community residents jostle for position before Safe Streets staff give away t-shirts and pizza. On the anniversary of Freddie Gray's arrest, Safe Streets staff set up tables at Pennsylvania and North Avenues and give away t-shirts, pizza and soda to get the word out about their presence in Sandtown. Safe Streets is a program started in Baltimore to cut gun violence in the most dangerous communities in the city by deploying Violence Interruptors to deescalate conflicts before they turn deadly. The newest post has just opened in the long beleaguered Sandtown community which was ground zero for the city's unrest following the death of Freddie Gray….
