OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -- 3/10/20 -- At the parole hearing for Shaun Boerner, his wife, Ravyn Boerner, reacts after Boerner, sentenced in 2018 for trafficking meth, was granted parole.
Oklahoma Department of Corrections conducts pardon and parole hearings at Kate Barnard Community Correctional Center over three days in March. The board has to weigh public safety over the need to reduce the prison population and whether or not an incarcerated person is fit to reenter society successfully.
Oklahoma incarcerates more people per capita than any other state, and incarcerates women at a rate that ranks second globally.
