OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -- 3/10/20 -- At TEEM, corrections inmates from a work release, minimum security facility are able to learn the construction trade beginning months before their release.
Kris Steele is the executive director of The Education and Employment Ministry (TEEM), which provides reentry services to felons about to be released from prison. Steele, a former Republican Speaker of the House in the state, has made criminal justice reform his top issue.
Oklahoma incarcerates more people per capita than any other state, and incarcerates women at a rate that ranks second globally.
