BALTIMORE, MD -- APRIL 13: LaTrease Jones places candles in memory of her best friend Dana Miller. Sandtown residents who live near and in the Gilmor (cq) Homes come together to mourn Dana Miller, who passed away from an overdose a few days before. The community is tight-knit, and many people claimed a familial connection to the deceased. This is the same community that Freddie Gray was from.
Safe Streets is a program started in Baltimore to cut gun violence in the most dangerous communities in the city by deploying Violence Interruptors to deescalate conflicts before they turn deadly.
