PORT-AU-PRINCE, -- 1/20/10 -- Richard Jean-Baptiste, a medical student at Spring Hill University in Delmas, Port-Au-Prince, checks on the family as Tamara Gerard Metellus comforts her husband, Georges Bourdeau Metellus, as he comforts their son, Earnings Emmanuel Christson Metellus. The family lost a daughter in the quake, and Georges suffered a crushed leg. Earnings suffered two broken feet, but Tamara escaped relatively unharmed...General Hospital in Port-Au-Prince has roughly 1500 patients, but the number fluctuates up as high as 1800 as more patients are admitted, treated and released. A mostly volunteer staff of 35 - 40 treat the patients. There have been 150 amputations so far....A magnitude 7.0 earthquake rips through Port-Au-Prince, killing over 100,000 and destroying most buildings....
